entrustIT Community Champions | April 2026
At entrustIT, our Community Champions initiative exists to celebrate the people in our team who go above and beyond, not just in their roles, but in the wider world. This April, IT Project Manager Hayley Rafter is doing exactly that: taking on the 2026 London Marathon to raise money for Sue Ryder St Johns Hospice.
We wanted to share her story, because it deserves to be heard.
In 2021, Hayley's father passed away after being diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare form of cancer affecting the bile ducts. During his final weeks, he was cared for at Sue Ryder St Johns Hospice, and the level of compassion shown by the team left a real impression on Hayley and her family.
"Being in Sue Ryder meant he passed with dignity and care. The hospice provided some of the best care I have ever seen in a healthcare environment and really helped us through an already challenging time."
Hayley also lost her mother in the months that followed, and it was during that period of grief that she turned to Sue Ryder's wider support services. The charity offers a range of bereavement resources including one-to-one talking therapies, local support groups and an online community, all freely available to those who need them.
"I genuinely don't think I would be in such a good headspace now if I had not had these services available. There is very little accessible support out there, either through the NHS or elsewhere, for people going through grief."
Having seen first-hand what Sue Ryder means to families at their most difficult moments, Hayley wanted to find a way to give something back. So she signed up to run the London Marathon
Hayley has a fundraising goal of £2,000 and has already raised over £1,065. Every donation, no matter the size, helps Sue Ryder continue providing dignified end-of-life care and grief support to families across the UK.
Hayley's fundraising page will remain open until 7th June 2026, so there is still time to donate even after race day.
Hayley is the latest in our entrustIT Community Champions series. Keep an eye out for more, including a short video interview with Hayley in the coming weeks.
From everyone at entrustIT, we are so proud of you Hayley. Go smash it!
