Why businesses are embracing Managed Services, and why YOU should too
Your IT department is inundated with problems and your network speed is getting increasingly difficult to deal with. Your business is growing and your IT department/provider is struggling to manage it. If any of these sound familiar then it might be time to think about a change, and that could be moving over to use a Managed Service. A survey from Clutch showed 59% of IT services have transitioned from the traditional break-fix model to a managed service contract.
More than just an IT Support contract. Learn more about 'SupportIT' in our brochure >>
What is a Managed Service?
In short a Managed Service is when a third party contractor provides an IT task for a customer. This is generally done for a monthly fee and means that if the customer needed to upscale or downscale the service, they can do so easily. The third party contractor is often known as a Managed Service Provider (MSP).
Organisations across the globe are making the change and in turn, making Managed Services and what they do increasingly popular.
But why are businesses making the change?
In the beginning, businesses made the change due to how cost effective using an MSP can be. However, as technology advances and they are used increasingly, businesses are looking at the additional benefits they can bring. Let’s take a look at all the benefits in some detail:
- Access to the latest technologies
After all, an MSP’s main focus is technology, so it means they have access to the latest technologies and tools. What’s more is they often integrate you without you knowing, for example keeping you up-to-date with updates of Windows 10. You no longer have to worry about falling behind your competitors on this front.
- Cost Effective
An IT budget has many elements to it which can mount up to a big, unpredictable bill. With a MSP, you are able to easily predict you IT expenses, allowing you to plan and budget for your business.
- A focus on security
We live in a society where having the right and top security is paramount for a business. Hackers are advancing and with cyber-attacks on the rise, the impacts on businesses are becoming far greater than they have ever been before. When choosing to pair with an MSP it takes the worry of keeping on top of security away as they do this for you. It is important to choose one that are familiar with the correct security standards and are compliant in them. For example here at entrustIT we took the time to obtain and maintain the ISO 27001 accreditation.
- Faster response and uptime
You may only work 9-5 but your network works around the clock and luckily so do MSP’s. A good and reliable MSP should guarantee 24/7 support and 99.9% uptime. They often solve problems before you even notice there was one! If you were to rely on your in-house IT team and an issue were to arise in an evening, it could take them until the next morning to notice. This could result in the issue becoming nasty and result in more money and time being spent to fix it!
- Opportunities for in-house IT team
Many people worry that by partnering with an MSP that they risk losing their existing in-house IT department, however, this is far from what can happen. Working with an MSP it means that you have the opportunity to improve and enhance your in-house IT team by allowing them to work on strategic projects that they are best suited to handle.
- Additional expertise
MSP’s have highly experienced engineers that work with many different organisations, and through this they gain a wider knowledge of what businesses need. To hire a team of engineers like these it could cost a lot of money, therefore by using an MSP money would be saved.
Managed Services work for businesses of all sizes. Whether you’re a large business needing a high level of security and support or a small business that doesn’t have the equipment and staff to keep up with larger competitors. At entrustIT we recognise how important it is for you to focus on your core business which is why we dedicate our time to providing a reliable, security compliant service so that your IT can work as in-the-background as possible.
Managed Services are transforming business all over the world, yours could be next!
